Five years since that first bid — thank you!

European Whisky Auctions

From Groningen to the world: five years of European Whisky Auctions

Five years ago, in the northern city of Groningen, a bold idea took shape: to create a dedicated platform where whisky enthusiasts could buy and sell bottles in a transparent, exciting, and accessible way. What started as an ambitious local initiative has since evolved into European Whisky Auctions; a thriving international marketplace connecting collectors, investors, and connoisseurs from every corner of the globe.

From the very beginning, consistency was key. Every month, without fail, a new auction went live. Each new auction marked another step forward, bringing in more bottles, more sellers, and more bidders. Today, those auctions attract participants from over 70 countries, spanning from Iceland to China and from Scandinavia to Australia. What was once local is now unmistakably global.

Built on consistency

From the very beginning, consistency was key. Month after month, a new auction went live — each one marking another step forward, bringing in more bottles, more sellers, and more bidders. What began as a near-monthly rhythm soon became an unbroken one. Today, those auctions attract participants from over 70 countries — from Iceland to China, from Scandinavia to Australia. What was once local is now unmistakably global.

Five years in, and accelerating

The growth isn't slowing down — quite the opposite. Over the past six months, European Whisky Auctions has entered a period of remarkable acceleration. The company is on track to match its entire 2025 turnover within just the first quarter of 2026. It's a clear reflection of rising international demand, not only for rare and collectible whisky, but for trusted platforms that bring buyers and sellers together seamlessly.

A market that keeps growing

The scale of our auctions tells its own story. Monthly offerings continue to expand, with an ever-wider range of bottles — from accessible everyday drams to rare and highly sought-after releases worth tens of thousands of euros. Each month, more whisky changes hands, and that momentum keeps building alongside growing international interest.

Closer to our customers

European Whisky Auctions is growing where it matters most — closer to you. With team members now active in Germany and Belgium, we offer local support and personal contact across Europe, all coordinated from our headquarters in Groningen.

Every bottle tells a story

From across Europe and beyond, sellers bring their collections to us — by courier, scheduled pickup, or by hand. Each bottle carries its own history, becoming part of a much larger story that connects people through a shared passion for whisky.

The next chapter

Whisky is rising again — as a collectible, an investment, and a passion. Five years have laid a strong foundation, but this is only the beginning. The next chapter promises daring, delight, and discovery in every bottle.
