Why we drive
Most of the damage we see does not happen in the auction room. It happens somewhere on a conveyor belt, in a box that was never built to carry glass. A bottle arrives with a loosened cork, a scuffed label or a chipped shoulder — and a bottle that arrives like that is worth noticeably less than the one that left.
Our collection routes exist to take that risk out of selling. Once a month the van works its way through a planned region and stops at every seller who booked a slot. We bring the packaging, we handle the bottles, and we carry the responsibility for them from the moment they leave your table.
It also removes the part of selling that most people dread. You do not have to weigh a parcel, queue at a drop-off point or wonder whether the tape will hold. You put the bottles on the table and we do the rest.
From your table to the hammer
Four steps, and only the first one asks anything of you.
Pick the route that passes closest to you and fill in the seller form. Tell us roughly what you have — a handful of bottles, a full cellar, something in between — so we know how much time to plan for.
You do not need an account to request a collection. If you do not have one yet, we set it up together afterwards.
Within a few working days we come back to you to agree a date and a time window. We go through your bottles with you as well, so we know what is coming and you know roughly what to expect at auction.
If a route is already full we will offer you the next one, or look at arranging something separately.
Our own people come by — never a parcel courier. They check the bottles against what you told us, pack them in our own materials and leave you a receipt listing everything they have taken with them.
From the moment the bottles are in the van, they are insured with us.
Back in Groningen every bottle is registered, inspected and photographed for the catalogue. Your lots appear in your account, where you can follow the bidding as it happens.
After the auction closes we settle up and pay you out. A bottle that did not sell simply rolls into the next auction at no extra cost.
Coverage
Routes are planned around the sellers who booked them, so the exact roads change every month. These are the regions we work through, and how often you can expect us.

Two other ways in
A route that does not reach you, or a date that is too far off, does not have to hold up your sale. There are two other ways to get your bottles to us.
We keep three depots — in Belgium, Germany and Denmark — where you can deliver your bottles on a day that suits you instead of waiting for the van. Bring them in yourself, send them, or have a third party deliver them straight to us.
It saves us a detour, and a van that comes back full rather than half empty, so we hand part of that saving back: every bottle delivered to a depot takes a quarter off your listing fee, or half of it if you add the Whiskybase IDs.
A cellar that needs clearing, an estate that needs valuing, or a handful of bottles that are simply too good to put in a box — for collections of that kind we are always willing to make the trip on our own.

Before you book
No. The collection itself is free, wherever on the route you are and however much you are handing over. We also bring the packaging, so you are not paying for boxes either.
There is no minimum. One bottle is enough to book a slot. If you have a great deal more than that, mention it when you book so we can plan the time — and the space in the van.
No, and we would rather you did not. Our people bring the right materials and pack the bottles on the spot, which is exactly why the risk transfers to us at your door.
All we ask is that the bottles are together and reachable when we arrive, so a stop stays a stop rather than a search.
You book a route, not a fixed hour. Once the route is planned we agree a date and a time window with you, and we let you know if anything shifts on the day.
Yes. Plenty of collections are handed over by a partner, a neighbour or a family member. Let us know who to expect and make sure they know what is being collected — the receipt is made out to you either way.
You can deliver your bottles to one of our three depots instead, which also earns you a discount on your listing fee. For larger collections, ask us about a personal collection.
After the auction closes and the buyer has paid. You will find the full settlement in your account, and our pricing page sets out exactly what is deducted and what is not.
